I really couldn't tell you when my love for design began. Maybe it was when I was 4 years old and my favorite part of visiting friends’ homes was seeing if they had a ‘cool’ staircase. Or maybe it was when I would rearrange my room quarterly, but not without first sketching up a floor plan to ensure its success. Or maybe it has just been wired in me from day one and cultivated over time.  

I am grateful to have been exposed to the industry from a young age – growing up around my Dad’s custom homes business introduced me to the world of houses, floor plans and design. In middle school and high school my love for design grew through shows like Fixer Upper, and courses in drafting, design, and interiors. It wasn’t long before I started to see the very real possibility of turning this God-given passion into a career.  

I studied at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and received a Bachelor’s Degree in both Interior Design and Marketing.  After college, I started working as an Interior Designer for a premier luxury home builder in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. After 4+ years of working on some incredible projects, and gaining extremely valuable industry experience, I set my sights on the next chapter of my design journey, Barrett Custom Designs.  

My philosophy of design guides every new project I begin. I believe that while great design is never less than key elements such as quality materials, form and function, it is also always more than that. The human element is the secret to any great design. My aim goes beyond creating beautiful and functional spaces - it is to create a space that is all of those things and a reflection of YOU! I am excited to help bring beauty and function into your home, one design at a time.
